Looking for that memorable, meaningful, spring break experience that will build your resume and allow you to network with cool students and youth from around the country, all while traversing the great US of A?
Well my friends, look no further, because YOU could be one of 12 lucky roadies to accompany Global Zero on a cross country tour for the premier of their critically acclaimed documentary Countdown to Zero.
Global Zero, a worldwide campaign to reduce nuclear weapons to Zero by 2030—is looking to recruit 12 highly motivated, dynamic, and intelligent volunteers interested in travelling cross-country screening the new Sundance-acclaimed movie Countdown to Zero, produced by Lawrence Bender and Participant Media. You can read more about the film in the article TED 2010: Nuclear Proliferation Is This Year's Inconvenient Truth.
The tour starts in Washington, D.C. on March 20, 2010 and ends in New York City on May 31. Mid-April, following three weeks of intensive (and fun!) training in Washington, D.C., you will hit the road with your teammates, traveling to college and high school campuses all over the country to build a movement and cultivate an environment in which to empower student leaders and inspire them to be active in this worldwide effort to eliminate nuclear weapons. While on the road you and your teammates will be responsible for setting up screenings, planning the day's events, selling merchandise, handling deposits/accounting, managing inventory, and continuing investment and follow up with new supporters that you'll meet on each campus and at each screening. When your 6-8 week tour comes to an end there will be a time of debrief, sharing, and celebration!
All transport costs, housing costs, and a food stipend are covered.
